Let Go of Fear and Learn to Trust God’s Plan
God never intended for us to live in fear. Fear does not originate from God's Kingdom - it comes from Satan's. Honestly, I did not truly experience real fear until 2020. This, for me, was the year Satan showed his hand. When Satan shows himself in your life and it becomes undeniable that he truly exists, this can be utterly terrifying trying to let go of fear. And so it was for me!
God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind” 2 Timothy 1:7
Therefore, fear is something we surrender to. I've heard it said many times that FEAR is False Evidence Appearing Real, and although I am not a big fan of backronyms, this one has stood the test of time for me. Satan IS deceptive in every way and will make things appear to be what they are not. He is all about inversion, and that is what I have come to realise. Fear is the inversion of our natural state.
Let Go Of Fear
Have you noticed that fear usually comes to us quietly? We may imagine fear as chaotic, disturbing, dark, dangerous, or even life-threatening. Yet, we could be sitting quietly on the sofa or lying silently in our bed in the dead of night, and fear could have us shaking uncontrollably or even make us ill!
I often remind myself of the following verse:
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephesians 6:12
Know Thy Enemy! Once you understand that the Devil is actively working in your life (as is the Lord), you can learn to separate (with a sound mind) the two! In my darkest days, I began to notice that my first thought when I woke each morning would determine the outcome of my day! Whenever I woke with a heavy or fearful heart, I became aware that I had allowed a dark or negative thought to enter my mind, and I ran with it, accepting it as truth! I believed it was MY thought, but was it really?
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour - 1 Peter 5:8
Letting go of fear is just that! Quite simply, LET IT GO! Know that it is not real! It is perceived, and for the most part, hasn't even happened (and probably never will)! The Devil literally dragged my unsound, frantic, and irrational mind right down into Hell itself back in 2020, but God had other plans! I had seen that Satan existed; now God wanted me to see Him! When you have nowhere else to go, God will be there!
If you feel you don't know how to pray, or that you may be doing it wrong. This again is Satan's hold over you. Whispering doubt, confusion, embarrassment, or even shame over you to stop you from surrendering to the love, protection, and guidance from Christ! Yes, it is a Spiritual War, and it has taken me my whole life to see it!
Now, take a moment to breathe deeply and bring your fear before God. Simply talk to God about what’s on your heart. Open your Bible and soak in His promises. A good place to start is with the Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke or John (this post explains the Gospels).
Take your fear, bundle it up, and simply hand it up to the Lord! Hold faith in His Promise!
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest - Matthew 11:28
If you feel you don't know how to pray, just speak openly and honestly. He IS listening!
