God will meet you right where you are. His timing is perfect! There is no need to have it all figured out to begin your journey with Him. Most people are only ready to reach out when they become overwhelmed or reach a point of despair, and it is in the ruin of that despair that they crumple to their knees and cry out for help! But you don't need to take yourself to that point!
My Faith Journey
My journey with the Lord has been a work in progress for many years, starting with a seed that was planted in childhood, when I was exposed to many Bible stories I did not understand that were read to me at Sunday School in South Africa back in the 1980s. Fast forward a few decades to my life as an adult in the UK, and faith is fast becoming the backbone of my existence. Especially in the last 5 years, since 2020.
I am still growing closer to my faith with each passing year, and despite my years of ignorance, I have evidence of the Lord's guidance throughout my life. It beggars belief how I have made it to this day still in one piece after all my years of impulsive, carnal, and earthbound decisions that I have made for myself!
Do you have a feeling that you are being called, but you are not sure why or what to do about it? That your old life and your old ways just don't fit anymore? Perhaps even feeling abandoned and fearful as there seems to be no clear path to take? Relax! It's simply just time to get to know Jesus and what his mission was to this Earth for us! To embark on that faith journey of healing and guidance back to where you should actually be, is to start by reading the Gospels, either Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John.
The reason the Gospels are a great place to start getting to know Jesus is that these 4 books of the New Testament provide a comprehensive account of the life, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. What better way of getting to know him?
The Book of Matthew emphasizes that Jesus brought the Kingdom of Heaven to Earth, ushering in a new covenant and authority for his followers to spread his message to all nations. It highlights Jesus's teachings, his healing miracles, and his ultimate victory over sin, death, and suffering.
The Book of Mark recounts the life, ministry, death, and resurrection of Jesus, presenting Him as the Son of God, while also highlighting His humanity and call to discipleship, even through suffering, who came to serve and give His life as a ransom for sins.
The Book of Luke is a call to everyone around the world, whatever our social or moral status, to abandon our futile methods of self-salvation and leave all to follow Christ, the great Friend of sinners. Because Jesus encounters a diverse range of people in Luke, this Gospel provides a glimpse into the various facets of salvation – its spiritual, physical, and social dimensions.
And finally....
The Book of John focuses on the divine nature of Jesus Christ as the Son of God, presenting a highly symbolic account of his ministry. The book highlights how Jesus's life, teachings, and actions reveal God's true nature to humanity. Through belief in Jesus as the Messiah and Son of God, people can receive eternal life.
Everyone's journey back to the Lord is a unique experience. Take your time. Use your discernment, learn to Pray, and follow with faith wherever you feel guided.
